The IBJJF No Gi Brazilian National Championship 2025 took place on June 28th and 29th, 2025 and there was a ton of talent on the mats. One of the biggest storylines was in the women’s brackets, as Gabrieli Pessanha continued her new no gi career by winning both the super-heavyweight and absolute divisions. The men’s absolute champion was Rafael Trabuco, but he fell short at super-heavyweight and Rafael Lovato Jr won gold there instead. Trabuco wasn’t the only one who almost became a double champion though, as Rafael Paganini won the medium-heavyweight division and ended up with a standing next to him on the absolute podium with a silver medal.
There were plenty of other big names in the heaviest weight classes too; with David Garmo winning the heavyweight title and Anderson Kauan taking gold at super-heavyweight. Kaua Gabriel also stood out in the featherweight division, where the Melqui Galvao prospect won gold for the first time. His teammate Evellyn Azevedo also won the featherweight division, while Thais Loureiro won the only match at roosterweight. Barbara Souza won gold in between them at light-featherweight, and the action didn’t stop there either. Lightweight was won by veteran contender Maria Claudia, and Swiss black belt Amanda Pamela Nicole emerged victorious in a tough middleweight bracket.
