There was just one grappling match taking place at ONE Friday Fights 140 on January 30th, 2026 and it delivered an excellent result. The middleweight battle between Henrique Almeida and Koki Ichikawa was opening the show for ONE Championship, and both men came in looking to produce some highlights. It took a little while for the finish to come but Almeida managed to get deep in on a leg entanglement at around the six-minute mark, exposing the heel shortly afterward. He locked up a devastating leg attack that functions as a mixture between a kneebar and a heel hook at the same time, wrenching on it to force Ichikawa to tap.
It was a great performance and Almeida announced his arrival in the ONE Championship rankings, but he still has a but of a mountain to climb in that division. Some of the best middleweights in the world are currently on the ONE roster and after the recent blockbuster match between Rafael Lovato Jr and Giancarlo Bodoni, Almeida might be able to start campaigning for a match against either man. He’d probably have to beat one of them of another big name if he wants to start making a case for a title-shot but there is no middleweight champion right now, so anything could happen.
