Helena Crevar made her long-awaited ONE Championship debut at ONE Fight Night 39 on January 23rd, 2026 and she came away with a very quick submission win. It was an undeniably impressive performance but it didn’t come without controversy, as the match was moved to openweight on short notice when it became apparent that Crevar wouldn’t be able to make the previously-agreed bantamweight limit while also passing the ONE hydration tests. By the time that she had passed their hydration testing and successfully weighed in; she came in at 161lbs and was almost 24lbs heavier than her opponent, Teshya Alo.
Crevar was already the favorite going into the match and obviously this meant that she had a size advantage too. When they stepped into the ring, Crevar got her game working against Alo very quickly and had the talented wrestler in trouble early on. She was able to get in on her legs after around a minute of action and secured an estima lock grip that looked very tight, but from a supine position instead of standing. Crevar used her legs to maintain control and limit Alo’s ability to escape, bridging into the estima lock hard to force the tap after just a minute and forty seconds in total.
