Alex O’Loughlin is one of the main stars of ‘Hawaii Five-0’ and the actor has now been promoted to black belt in BJJ after years of training in the sport. The promotion actually took place during the week of festivities at ADCC 2022, as can be seen by the surroundings in the footage that has surfaced. He has spent a large portion of his time training under legendary grappling and MMA competitors, the Inoue brothers Enson and Egan. After Alex O’Loughlin was promoted to BJJ black belt he gave a speech to those in attendance and he actually made a point of thanking Egan Inoue directly for his development:

“I don’t know what to say. On behalf of my training partners, everyone whose been a part of my journey, thank you. I have to say it with all of my heart and all of my love. Thank you to Egan Inoue for the first 10 years of my journey. It’s one of the only things that I understand to be a purely solitary venture that requires everyone. It’s an honour.”

O’Loughlin has been training Jiu-Jitsu for several years; with a lot of his training taking place alongside one of his co-stars in ‘Hawaii Five-0’, Scott Caan. O’Loughlin now joins Caan as one of many celebrity BJJ black belts, as Caan himself was promoted in 2016 after an impressive fifteen years of training in the sport. O’Loughlin has spent at least a decade in training himself and has without a doubt put in more than enough hours on the mats to be worthy of his black belt promotion. It was definitely a moment to remember for him, as he was awarded it on one of the biggest stages in professional grappling history and with legends like Renzo Gracie in attendance.

The footage of Alex O’Loughlin being promoted to BJJ black belt at ADCC 2022 was uploaded to the official YouTube channel of Angel In Chains:

You might mention his new instructor who promoted him to black belt, Rodrigo Gracie Jr., here in Hawaii!
