Gordon Ryan has just offered a $500 cash reward to any competitor who manages to beat Nicky Rodriguez or Craig Jones at the upcoming UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4 event on June 29th, 2023. Ryan is known for making large bets on his own performance against other competitors, most notably when he agreed to put up $200,000 of his own money against Felipe Pena across two matches. He’s not able to do that at this event though, as he’s not actually competing himself. Ryan hasn’t actually competed at all in 2023 and is still recovering from the recent sickness that has kept him out of action for a few months.
Jones is actually competing in the main event of UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4 and Ryan’s recent offer of a cash reward for beating him has led to a pretty funny scenario. That’s because Jones is actually up against Ryan’s oldest rival, Felipe Pena. Should Pena win this match and Ryan sticks to his word, he’ll end up paying his rival $500 for the win. There’s plenty of opportunities for a cash bonus from Ryan elsewhere though, as Rodriguez is actually competing in an 8-man absolute tournament on the same night.
This means that anywhere up to 3 other grapplers will have the opportunity to claim the $500 reward from Ryan, depending on how far Rodriguez makes it through the bracket. Ryan’s teammate Dan Manasoiu is also competing in the tournament, so he’ll no doubt be looking forward to a match with Rodriguez at some point during his run to the top. The full card at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4 looks absolutely fantastic, and it’ll be interesting to see if anyone is able to claim the cash reward from Gordon Ryan by beating either Jones or Rodriguez at the event.
