Gabrielle McComb just continued her impressive MMA career at LFA 213 on July 26th, 2025 with yet another submission win. Her opponent Cara Greenwell was a step up in competition for McComb as well, as she was coming into the fight with a 2-1 professional record. Greenwell came out very strong too, pressuring McComb with some clean striking as soon as the first round started and showing some good distance management. McComb found her rhythm shortly after and started to work her striking, but Greenwell was still winning most of the exchanges on the feet and looked like she was going to win the round.
That’s when McComb sprung into action, timing her shot perfectly right around the halfway-mark. She lifted Greenwell high and slammed her down, landing straight into side control. McComb moved into mount very quickly and landed some brutal ground and pound, taking Greenweel’s back when she turned to defend herself. She continued landing strikes and transitioned to an armbar, but there wasn’t enough time left for her to break Greenwell’s defensive grips. The break and reset to the feet for the second round worked well for Greenwell, as she came out strong again and started to land quite a few leg kicks.
McComb shot in earlier this time and switched from a single-leg into a bodylock when Greenwell defended, throwing her to the ground and taking her back with a little over four minutes left in the round. Greenwell worked her way back up to her feet eventually, but not before McComb landed a ton of strikes and really sapped her energy. McComb looked more confident in her striking at this point but Greenwell was still working the leg kicks. A quick shot from McComb got her in on the hips, but she couldn’t get Greenwell to the ground and drove her into the cage instead.
Greenwell escaped but ate a few strikes on the break, but at least she was back where she was able to win the exchanges. McComb shot in early again and hit the takedown cleanly this time, passing straight to mount when she landed. Greenwell tried to hold on to her and ride out the round but it only allowed McComb to swing her leg over the head and sit into an armbar. She had a bit more time to work this time and was able to separate the hands, extending the arm and for ing Greenwell to tap at 4:28 of the second round.
