The clock is ticking on PGF World Season 8 and as fans around the world get ready for another $100,000 tournament, the promotion has announced the full roster of 20 elite competitors. This season will be contested at lightweight and it begins with the promotion’s customary draft on June 25th, 2025. That’s when the four team captains will bid on the competitors in order to put together the best team of 5 that they possibly can. Although this latest season will follow tradition in many ways, it’s also going to be breaking new ground as a weekly show over three months instead of being condensed into one week like before.
The action takes place every weekend from July 23rd to August 20th and with the 20 athletes that have been confirmed for the event, there’s sure to be plenty of highlights. There’s a great mixture of veteran grapplers and exciting young prospects, and it’s so well-balanced that there doesn’t appear to be any clear favorites like previous seasons. Christos Papadelos and Zack Schneider are two of the most experienced competitors in the lineup and they will both be serious threats, while Jordan Wirth has a creative and unique style that could present problems for anyone not used to dealing with it.
A lot of attention will be on three incredibly talented young stars too; as Landon Elmore, Jett Thompson, and Matt Masch will all be serious contenders even among the bigger names on the roster. There’s an even younger grappler looking to make an impact too, as this may very well be the moment that 17 year-old Raphael Ferreira breaks out in to the highest level. There are plenty of other excellent grapplers in the lineup of course and anything really can happen in a PGF season, so it’s possible that none of these men end up with the title when the dust settles.
