Pit Submission Series 9 is scheduled for November 14th, 2024 and the promotion has announced a great lineup for it. As always the event has been booked for the same night as the latest edition of Karate Combat, and Kickback 3 is going to take place in Bangkok, Thailand. There’s only two matches confirmed for the event, slightly less than their usual three matches. It doesn’t have quite the same level of star power as their previous events have had, but all four of the grapplers competing are very exciting and should be more than capable of producing some highlight-reel moments for the fans.
The opening match features two local competitors who have quite a bit of history with another, with both of them looking forward to the rematch. Magomet Matiev is the inaugural ADCC Thailand Open absolute champion, proving himself to be one of the top no gi grapplers in the country. He’ll be putting his skills to the test against an old rival, with the challenge coming from Jun-Yong Kim. Not only is Kim the BJJ instructor at the popular Pom Gym in the local area, but he’s also a talented competitor in his own right. The South Korean BJJ black belt has plenty of experience on the mats and it’ll definitely be a tough match for both men.
Then in the main event, two men with a wide range of combat sports experience will be meeting in a grappling match. Nala Gontijo is both a Judo and Jiu-Jitsu black belt with quite a bit of time in the ring under Muay Thai rules too. His opponent, Rodrigo Caporal, has become equally well-rounded after initially starting out as a BJJ competitor. He made his professional MMA debut back in 2005 when he was still a purple belt and although he continued to compete in both for a while, he eventually focused more on MMA. Caporal now has a 16-8 professional MMA career and he looks to make a big impression with a win over Gontijo here.
