The Polaris Squads Intercontinental Championship Final 2025 is fast approaching, as it will take place on November 1st as the main card of Polaris 34. It’s a huge moment for both the promotion and the competitors themselves, as it represents the culmination of a whole year of hard work for everyone. It has been just over a year since Polaris first announced the tournament and it will end up covering three-quarters of their events for the year. It’s essentially been their main focus throughout 2025 and the Squads format as a whole has been a major investment for them, with the only other card being their first ever Female Squads event.
Now fans will get to see the grand finale, as Team Europe and Team Asia & Oceania return to face one another. Team Europe won their place at Polaris 31 and the team will be largely unchanged, with 5 out of the team of 6 coming back for the final. The only change to the lineup is Owen Jones, who was actually supposed to be on the team to begin with anyway but was unfortunately forced to withdraw at the very last minute due to a Staph infection. He now gets the opportunity to compete again and will be a valuable addition to the team, even without their experience in the format.
Taylor Pearman will reprise his role as Squad captain, while Santeri Lilius and Mateusz Szczecinski will be looking to continue their status as the team’s biggest hitters. Rounding out the lineup is Jozef Chen and Eoghan O’Flanagan, both of whom registered their fair share of wins during the team’s domination of Team North America. After winning by a fairly comfortable 18-12 margin in their first outing, the European squad will be coming into this as the favorites on paper. It is far from a foregone conclusion though, as the Asia & Oceania squad earned their place here with a huge win of their own over South America at Polaris 33.
They won by a much smaller margin at 16-15, but their team is largely unchanged too. The only new face is Oliver Taza, who will be replacing their biggest weapon last time around; Kenta Iwamoto. Iwamoto wasn’t the only key player though, as Lucas Kanard also reeled off several wins at Polaris 33 and he is returning. Igor Tanabe and Mohammed Avtarhanov both made their mark back then and will likely be important to the team’s success in the final too, while Hejraat Rashid and Tommy Yip will both be looking to improve upon their performances. The Squads format is exciting and unpredictable by nature though, so this matchup really is anyone’s for the taking.
Polaris confirmed the full lineup for both Team Europe and Team Asia & Oceania at the Polaris Squads Intercontinental Championship Final 2025 in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
