Submission Hunter Pro 95 is scheduled for January 19th, 2025 and the promotion has put together an excellent lineup for the main event grand prix. The tournament will feature 8 of the best grapplers under 160lbs and they’ll all be battling it out for the grand prize of $5,000. There will also be several superfights building up to tournament and although there will be plenty of entertainment there, most of the attention will be on the grand prix. One of the top contenders to take home the title will be Carlos Henrique, as he’s coming into the event straight off a bronze medal at the IBJJF No Gi World Championship 2024.
His path to the grand prize is far from an easy one though, as he’s up against Henrique Camargo in the very first round. Camargo was one of the top brown belts in the world last year, having medaled at multiple major IBJJF no gi events over the last year or so. He made his black belt debut just around 7 months so he’s still relatively new to the highest level but he’s not someone that can be overlooked. The winner of these two men will then face the winner of Jeremy Owens and Bellator veteran Raufeon Stots, both of whom will make tough opponents.
On the other side of the bracket, there will be quite a few people waiting eagerly to see current UFC flyweight Matt Schnell as he faces off with Christian Guzman. Another MMA veteran will be competing in the final opening round match, as Gabriel Macario has been drawn against Randy Baker. Baker is going to be another one to watch as the bracket unfolds and he brings a ton of competitive experience to the event, as he’s a veteran of both Who’s Number One and the Combat Jiu-Jitsu World Championships. The champion will have to beat 3 talented grapplers and MMA fighters on the same night, no doubt delivering plenty of highlights in the process.
