Main Character Jiu-Jitsu 5 is scheduled for November 17th, 2024 and the promotion has put together an excellent card. There’s also an excellent open event the day before, where the main attraction is a women’s under 135lbs tournament that gives the winner the opportunity to challenge for the promotion’s title at MCJJ 5. There are 16 women competing in that qualifier tournament and there’s some serious talent involved, including ADCC Trials medalists. Whoever wins will have beaten four elite competitors on the same day and then they’ll have another challenge in front of them, as they’ll be challenging the reigning champion Morgan Black for the title.
There’s also some great superfights, including top 10th Planet competitor Richie Martinez taking on Nonso Ebede in a fun matchup. Martinez is far from the only 10th Planet black belt competing in the event though, as Kyle Chambers faces off with Oliver Taza in another superfight and the main event actually features his younger brother back in action. Geo Martinez will be facing Gianni Grippo in the final match of the night, and that promises to be one of the most exciting battles the promotion has ever put on. There’s several more 10th Planet competitors involved too, and one of them will actually be attempting to take home a title.
Rene Sousa is one of four men involved in the men’s under 185lbs tournament and he’s got some tough opposition standing in between him and the belt. His opening round match is against top prospect Jett Thompson, and the other side of the bracket sees Chris Wojcik facing Nick Ortiz. The final element of the Main Character Jiu-Jitsu 5 card is an interesting 5 vs 5 team dual, where the promotion’s inaugural champions are looking to defend their title. B-Team Jiu-Jitsu beat 10th Planet Las Vegas at MCJJ 4 and now they will be facing a whole new challenge, as MCJJ have actually put together a team to face them themselves.
