FSA Pro Cup: Only Stars took place on December 17th, 2024 and Fighting Sport Arts put together a fun night that featured several elite competitors. They even flew in three of the biggest Brazilian grapplers in the sport to compete against the best in the area, and the results didn’t go quite the way that many would have expected. The preliminary card was up first of course and there were plenty of fun matches, but the standout moment came from Davud Magomedov. He submitted his opponent with a heel hook in around 30 seconds, what would end up being the quickest finish of the entire night.
The first of the three biggest matches featured Joao Miyao, and he was facing a tough veteran opponent in the form of Giorgi Razmadze. Miyao couldn’t find the finish but his victory never looked to be in doubt and he managed to rack up 5 points while Razmadze couldn’t score. The next match is where things got really interesting though, and it was easily the most controversial moment of the event. Jonnatas Gracie was up against Magomed Dzharbaev and neither man could score in regulation time, so they went to a modified version of EBI overtime in order to determine the winner.
The first few rounds went with both men hitting the maximum amount of one-minute in control, but it was on Gracie’s turn to attack the armbar that things got contentious. Dzharbaev escaped right at the end and Gracie’s team claimed that he did not escape in time, so they had to review the footage. Upon review, it became clear that Dzharbaev actually got free with just 1.5 seconds left on the clock so he was declared the winner. Then in the main event of the night, Gabriel Almeida put on an impressive display against Eldar Sayidov and got the submission win with a rear-naked choke.
