Grapple Wars are a relatively new promotion based in Wales, but they’re quickly picking up the pace by regularly staging events in the country. Their first event was a great one, and they managed to put together an exciting card full of some of the best grapplers from around Wales and the rest of the UK. The main event was the inaugural featherweight title-fight between Abraham Damaher and Josh Williams, the brother of ADCC veteran Ashley Williams. As a long-time training partner of one of the best competitors to come out of the UK in recent years, Josh Williams is a talented grappler in his own right.
Both Williams and Damaher put on a great match with constant action from both parties throughout. In the end the match was ruled a draw and neither man walked away with the promotion’s featherweight title. Williams and Damaher weren’t able to find the finish but the fact that both of them had several attempts throughout the match meant that this was one of the more exciting matches in recent memory. Both men have the capability of competing at a high level in the sport and it’ll be worth watching them to see what else they can achieve in the future.
