Bella Mir has just taken one of the biggest jumps in her MMA career by making the switch to becoming a professional fighter, and doing so very successfully. She already had a lot to live up to as the daughter of ex-UFC Heavyweight World Champion and one of the most skilled submission artists in the division, Frank Mir. Her father had some kind words to say on his official Instagram account as he was no doubt proud of his daughter’s biggest achievement to date. It’s early days yet though for Bella as she’s only 17 years-old and although her surname might attract attention, she’s at least a few fights away from even being considered for a UFC contract.

Regardless, Bella put on an impressive display in her first professional fight and her fighting style certainly evokes memories of her father as she’s already a very skilled grappler. She made the trip to Sonora, Mexico to take on a game opponent in fellow debutante Danielle Wynn at Ikon FF 2 and came away with the decision victory in a hard-fought match. The first round saw Wynn have some good moments as she marked up Bella Mir on the feet and the champion’s daughter had to fight back from some adversity as the second round began.

That’s when Bella really started to come into her own and work her grappling to fantastic effect, throwing devastating shots from top position throughout the round. The third round then saw a tight armbar attempt from her that Wynn managed to defend and although she mounted some good offense throughout the fight, it wasn’t enough to take the victory away from Bella. Things look bright for the young prodigy as she starts her career, around the same time that her father looks to be making some surprising choices at the end of his.
