Jake Paul took on Anderson Silva in a boxing match this past weekend and although the outcome was surprising enough, the most shocking moments of the night actually took place backstage when Nate Diaz and members of his team were involved in a backstage brawl with members of Paul’s team. Several of Diaz’s entourage can be identified by the fact that they are wearing t-shirts with the logo of his new fight promotion company, Real Fight Inc.
It’s unclear why the altercation broke out in the first place, but Diaz himself has been spotted giving out one of his patented ‘Stockton Slaps’ during the chaos. Things were eventually broken up by members of security who escorted Diaz and several members of his team out of the event, although not before several bottles were thrown. The men, including Diaz, were also threatened with arrest if they failed to comply with the request to leave the event, although this was not necessary in the end and no arrest were made.
Jake Paul himself was not involved in the altercation as he was busy preparing for his boxing match with Anderson Silva, although he was informed of the event. In the end he beat Silva by unanimous decision and after the fight concluded, he called out Nate Diaz as the next opponent in his developing boxing career. Diaz is no longer under contract with the UFC after he won his final fight against fellow veteran Tony Ferguson, so the fight isn’t all that hard to make. While Diaz has been known for the high level of BJJ skill he’s shown over the last few decades, it’s worth remembering that he’s been striking in MMA since he was just a teenager and would no doubt be eager to get in the boxing ring instead of the cage for a change.
There were several different Instagram accounts that either unearthed or filmed live themselves, footage of Nate Diaz and members of his team being involved in the backstage brawl at the Jake Paul v Anderson Silva boxing match:
