Fellipe Andrew has just been stripped of his IBJJF Pan Championship for 2024 and has been suspended from IBJJF competition for two years after an anti-doping rule violation. This news actually explains the fact that Andrew was unusually absent from the IBJJF World Championship this year, as his case was still under review and he was provisionally suspended at the time. The IBJJF announced that he tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolites as the result of an in-competition drug test conducted at the IBJJF Pan Championship 2024 on March 24, 2024 and a provisional suspension was imposed upon him on April 16th, 2024.

That’s also the date that his two-year suspension has officially begun and he will not be eligible to compete at IBJJF events until April 16th, 2026. Andrew had won the heavyweight division at the event, marking his fifth title across two regular weight classes and the absolute division. This was actually the first edition of the IBJJF Pan Championship in several years to feature testing and Andrew isn’t the only competitor to fail the in-competition test. Just a few weeks ago it was announced that medium-heavyweight Uanderson Ferreira tested positive for Marijuana and its metabolites and would also be stripped of his title.

Andrew has been dealt another blow though, as he was originally scheduled to compete at Polaris 29. When the promotion heard about the fact that Fellipe Andrew was being suspended from IBJJF competition for an anti-doping rule violation, they actually removed him from the event. This is because the promotion previously announced a policy to combat the usage of PEDs in the sport, where they would be honoring any sanctions imposed by any other organizations that conduct testing. This left them scrambling to find a replacement for him, and Polaris favorite George Pearse eventually stepped in to face Davis Asare.
