The IBJJF Atlanta Fall Open 2023 took place on November 18th and 19th, 2023 with a ton of action across several different weight classes at the event. Austin Oranday won the absolute division in the gi, although his other two gold medals came by default as there weren’t any other competitors at heavyweight in either gi or no gi. There were plenty of other top competitors in the gi divisions too, with Keven Carrasco standing on top of the podium at light-featherweight and Sebastian Serpa doing the same at featherweight. Featherweight was stacked as one of the bronze medal spots was occupied by Emilio Hernandez, shortly before he earned another bronze in the gi absolute.

Inacio Santos walked away with an impressive haul of three gold medals over the course of the weekend, as he won the ultra-heavyweight division in both the gi and no gi before winning the no gi absolute as well. He actually beat ADCC veteran Michael Perez in the final of that bracket, after Perez got a default gold at super-heavyweight. Dos Santos wasn’t alone in taking home gold medals on both days, with Everton Teixeira and Kevin Mahecha won two gold medals at roosterweight and lightweight respectively.

Elijah Dorsey only competed in no gi, but the recent ADCC Trials winner proved he belongs at ADCC 2024 by winning the middleweight division. Although there were quite a few women signed up to compete at the IBJJF Atlanta Fall Open 2023, the women’s divisions were dominated by one competitor. Thais Teixeira won both of the absolute divisions after getting a pair of default gold medals at heavyweight, although the lighter brackets had some interesting matches too. Shelby Murphey won gold in the gi at light-featherweight, while Brenda Wunner beat Andreza Morais in the final of the gi and no gi featherweight divisions.
