The ADCC Natal Open 2025 took place on January 25th, 2025 and the tournament attracted some fantastic grapplers from all around Brazil. There wasn’t many female competitors in the advanced divisions but purple belt Maria Almeida moved up from winning at intermediate last year in order to win the only weight class. The men’s under 70kg saw an incredible storyline emerge, as 15 year- old blue belt Raphael Felipe beat three adults who were all either brown or black belts to win gold. He wasn’t the only young champion though, as 17 year-old Art Of Jiu-Jitsu blue belt Pedro Fontes won both the intermediate and advanced divisions at under 60kg.
At the other end of the scale, veteran Marco Queiroz submitted three out of four opponents on his way to winning the under 76kg division. Heitor Santiago also impressed in the other busier division at under 83kg, as he beat three opponents to win gold there. Mauricio Pereira also had to beat three opponents in order to stand on top of the podium at over 100kg, while two more black belts won the other weight classes. Eduardo Andrade and Washington Goncalves both had to beat two opponents on their way to winning titles at under 91kg and under 100kg respectively.
