Battleground Grappling 6 is scheduled for September 28th, 2024 and the promotion has just announced the first few matches for the card. They have led with the biggest matchups of the event as well; revealing a title-fight, a Combat Jiu-Jitsu match, and their co-main event. The Australian promotion has gone from strength to strength over the course of their first few events and they’ve quickly become known for excellent matchmaking, something that’s on full display here. Each of the three matches that have been confirmed for BG 6 so far features very talented competitors and they’ll no doubt deliver plenty of entertainment.
The first match on the Battleground Grappling 6 card will be the Combat Jiu-Jitsu match between two MMA veterans, Tim Moore and Rodrigo Costa. Moore has had over 20 professional fights in his career and is known all around Australia for his fantastic grappling, even though he hasn’t fought for several years now. Costa on the other hand is still actively competing in MMA and has had 16 fights prior to the event; with the majority of them coming under Australia’s premier regional MMA promotion, Eternal MMA. Costa is actually the former Eternal MMA bantamweight champion and it’ll be interesting to see how he fares against the more experienced Moore.
The co-main event will then be an under 66kg match between Daiki Yonekura and Rian de Paula, a battle that will definitely deliver fireworks as both men are known for their exciting and fast-paced styles. The final match of the night is then an under 99kg title-fight, with two of Australia’s top heavyweight grapplers meeting for the belt. Evolution BJJ Perth coach Brodie Sprlyan is one of the promotion’s fan-favorites and he will now get the opportunity to become the undisputed under 99kg champion when he faces Sydney West Martial Arts brown belt Kurtis Martin for the title.
