Kairos Pro Jiu-Jitsu 2 is scheduled to take place on April 27th, 2025 and the promotion has just announced a superb lineup for their 8-woman tournament. Their first event was a huge success and they’re choosing to stick to the same unique format that proved to be a hit before. Ten women will be split into two groups of five in order to compete in a series of matches against one another, flipping a coin to determine whether each match takes place in the gi or in no gi. Each of those two groups will all compete against each other im a pair of round-robin tournaments and the winners of each will then face other in the final.
There are a few differences this time around though, the first one being that the tournament will take place in a completely new weight class. The ten women in the Kairos Pro Jiu-Jitsu 2 lineup will all be weighing in at under 55kg and for the first time, the promotion has also booked a male superfight too. The superfight is a fun matchup between two talented European competitors at under 66kg, with Tommy Yip being one of the most exciting veterans available in the UK. His opponent is one of the most successful Dutch grapplers around, as Daniel De Groot is both an IBJJF major and ADCC Trials medalist.
The under 55kg tournament is the main attraction though, and the £2,000 grand prize means that all ten women will be fighting hard to come out on top. Only one woman has been here before though, as Ashley Bendle actually competed in their first event almost two years ago. She finished third in her group back then but she was also moving up in weight against the under 65kg, whereas this will be a much more comfortable weight class for her. Bendle isn’t the only favorite and the other woman who stands out is Raquel Ferreira, who is actually the reigning IBJJF No Gi European Champion.
There is plenty of tough opposition for both of them though, with Italian black belt Martina Zola being the other top contender right behind Bendle and Ferreira. Vivi Roustani is another difficult opponent coming all the way from Greece for her shot at the prize money, while English MMA veteran Hayley Valentine is going to present a different type of challenge for everyone. Judo black belt and BJJ brown belt Emma Louise Thompson is another opponent who brings some unique strengths into the tournament and it’ll be interesting to see how everyone deals with her. She isn’t the only top brown belt in the Kairos Pro Jiu-Jitsu lineup either, as Libby Genge and Francesca Lana are two of the best in Europe right now at that level.
The final two women rounding out the bracket are both very entertaining grapplers with a ton of experience on the UK professional grappling circuit. Moti Takwongi has competed on pretty much every show in the country and after being promoted to brown belt at the end of last year, she’s poised to make a big impression. Likewise, Lucy Wynne has also been busy travelling all around the country and even beyond in order to test herself as a purple belt. This tournament represents a huge opportunity for both women to make a name for themselves by getting wins over veteran opponents.
The final match taking place at Kairos Pro Jiu-Jitsu 2 is another superfight, this time between two talented young prospects. Martha Fairfax and Valentina Pensaville are both 17 year old blue belts and they will no doubt put on a great show for the fans watching. The day before the main show, the venue at Escapology BJJ in Cambridge, England will also play host to the first ‘Kairos Sessions’. That’s a double-header seminar with classes by both Yip and De Groot, followed by an hour-long open mat for the attendees. Tickets for the day are available here for just £50 and it will be a great opportunity for high-level training and instruction for anyone in the area that weekend.
