Enigma Invitational 23: Austin took place on April 5th, 2025 and the event featured an excellent middleweight round-robin tournament. There was several superfights prior to that and thanks to the location, there was plenty of top talent nearby looking to compete. The young New Wave Jiu-Jitsu prospects had a great day of results, with Andrew DeGraff earning a submission win to start them off. Landon Elmore and Reese LaFever also won later on in the day, continuing the team’s run of great performances throughout the event. The main event then saw Sebastian Attard taking home the promotion’s absolute title by hitting a slick armbar against JJ Zayas.
Eight men were competing in the middleweight tournament at Enigma Invitational 23: Austin and they were split into two groups for in order to set up the final. Nick Mataya tore through group A with 3 wins, while Austin Oranday enjoyed a clean-sweep of submission wins in group B despite some very tough opposition from the rising star Jett Thompson in his last match. Mataya and Oranday met in the final and although it took a little over 7 minutes, Mataya was able to take his opponent’s back and sink in the rear-naked choke to walk away with $1,000 and a new title for his collection.
