Enigma Invitational 19 took place in Austin, Texas on October 26th, 2024 and an exciting lightweight tournament was the main attraction of the evening. There was several members of the New Wave Jiu-Jitsu team competing and they all made decent runs through the bracket, with one of them ending up as the champion. It was Dominic Mejia who came away with the grand prize of $1,000 and he actually had to beat two of his teammates in order to earn it. Mejia and his two teammates all managed to make it into the semi-finals, but that’s when they had to cross paths in order to get any further.
After submitting Roger Santos in the quarter-final, Mejia submitted Reese LaFever in the semi-final before finishing Landon Elmore in the final. It was a great run by the New Wave prospect and he reminded everyone why he’s been one to watch for a little while now. There were also a series of superfights at the event too, and two other top prospects also stood out in the results. Andrew DeGraff submitted his opponent with a brutal leglock and Jett Thompson hit his signature ankle-lock to win his match. That all built up to the main event of the evening, where Maka Vickers submitted Ally Wolski to become the new bantamweight champion.
