Emperor Of The Mats 5 took place on October 17th, 2025 and Kuwait played host to some of the best grapplers in the world as a result. There was $1,000 up for grabs for the winners each of the 5 weight classes and $4,000 for the absolute champion, so it was easy to see why some top competitors wanted to enter their respective divisions. One man walked away with the biggest prize of $5,000 in total after winning both the over 99kg and absolute divisions, going undefeated across 5 matches in those two brackets. That was Anton Dmitrakov; who was pretty much flawless throughout the day and improved upon his gold and silver medals from Emperor Of The Mats 4.
Pawel Jaworski also left with two medals, as he won the under 88kg division and took silver in the absolute next to Dmitrakov. He submitted 2 out of 3 opponents in his weight class before winning all 3 of his absolute matches by submission, but the points loss to Dmitrakov in the final brought his total record to 6-1. The two bronze medalists from the absolute also won bronze at under 99kg, but Jean Maltese won gold there with a perfect run of 3 submission wins. He wasn’t the only one to do so though, as Nikolas Souza also submitted all 3 of his opponents at under 77kg. Then the final champion was crowned in the under 66kg division, where Hassan Hamsh won 2 of his 3 matches by submission.
