Elon Musk has started getting a little more involved with BJJ, taking up popular podcast host Lex Fridman on the offer of an impromptu training session in the sport. The whole situation has come up about because of a recent interaction between Musk and Mark Zuckerberg on social media, where the pair jokingly went back and forth about engaging in either a BJJ or MMA match. For many other people, this interaction might have gone unnoticed and would never have really picked up much steam. For two of the world’s richest and most influential men like Musk and Zuckerberg, the idea of a combat sports match between them pretty much set the world on fire.
The idea of a battle between billionaires was something that appeared to have a huge amount of appeal, and even veterans of the industry like UFC president Dana White were interested in making it happen. When promoters started to get involved, naturally waves of fighters and coaches started to offer their services to help either man prepare for the potential match. Even some of the biggest legends of both BJJ and MMA like Royce Gracie threw their hat in the ring and offered to coach one of these two men.
That’s where Fridman came into it, as the popular podcast host is a first degree BJJ black belt with a wealth of competitive experience. Although he didn’t offer to coach or train either man, he did manage to get a good comparison between them with first-hand experience. Lex Fridman recently had a BJJ training session with Mark Zuckerberg, and now he’s been able to do the exact same thing with Elon Musk as well. He now stands as potentially the only person on the planet who has that amount of insider’s knowledge on how that fight might go, so it’s worth paying attention to how he ends up betting if it does take place.
The news that Elon Musk had an impromptu BJJ training session with Lex Fridman was announced in a post to the popular podcast host’s official Instagram account:
