Diogo Reis has just added the ONE Championship flyweight world title to his collection, becoming the champion in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 38 on December 5th, 2025. He is now the second man to hold the title after Mikey Musumeci, but he didn’t have to beat him to win it as it has been vacant for quite some time. Musumeci famously missed weight for one title-defense and was immediately stripped of the belt as a result. That put the promotion in the position of having to rebuild the division, and they’ve been hard at work booking several flyweight matches over the last year.
Reis submitted top contender Shoya Ishiguro in his debut and made a strong case for a title-shot immediately, so ONE quickly found him the ideal opponent. Although this was his promotional debut, Daiki Yonekura had been making waves for a while and was booked opposite Reis. Although neither man could find the finish, Reis scored a pretty clear-cut decision win thanks to his consistent offense and positional control throughout the match. Reis wasn’t the only elite grappler to win big at ONE Fight Night 38 though, as Lachlan Giles submitted BJJ legend Marcelo Garcia in one of the biggest matches of the night.
