Dillon Danis is apparently working on the next match of his boxing career and this one might be a massive challenge, as a fight with Eddie Hall is reportedly in works according to a report by MMAFighting. It’s one of the more bizarre matchups that have happened in recent years, even with the burst in popularity for celebrity fights. Not only would this be a huge crossover between two completely different sports but the size difference between them is gigantic. Hall stands at 6’2 and weighs anywhere between 300 and 400lbs depending on the event he’s competing in, whereas Danis is 6’0 and has never competed higher than light-heavyweight; or 205lbs.
This isn’t even the first time that a fight between Hall and Danis has been proposed either, as Misfits Boxing attempted to book an MMA fight between them before. The size difference actually proved to be a problem back then, as the commission they were using wouldn’t sanction the fight in time. It’s not hard to see why either, as this isn’t just a case of Danis moving up a weight class or two. Even at his lightest, Hall would outweigh Danis by around 100lbs and as a former professional Strongman competitor at the highest level; he uses that weight incredibly well too.
Not only is Eddie Hall a former World’s Strongest Man winner, but he actually has just as much boxing experience as Dillon Danis too. Hall has had just one boxing match back in 2022, where he lost a decision to fellow Strongman Hafthor Bjornsson, but he also has a 1-0 MMA record after knocking out Mariusz Pudzianowski earlier this year. Danis obviously has a lot more BJJ experience than the handful of training sessions Hall has done, but that won’t be of any use in a boxing match of course. His only relevant experience is the 3 professional MMA fights that he’s won and the disqualification loss in his boxing match with Jake Paul.
It’s tough to predict exactly how the fight will go of course, but Hall has the clear physical advantage that he’d likely look to use to knock Danis out early. Danis on the other hand barely threw any punches at all in his only boxing match, and he has much more reason to avoid a brawl with Hall than he did with Jake Paul. Any punch from the elite Strongman competitor could end the fight but Danis should theoretically have the speed and cardio advantage necessary to win a decision. If he can force Hall to chase him and land strikes on the counter then he may well come out on top, but that’s much easier said than done.
