Dillon Danis has just had his return to boxing confirmed, as he will be having the second match of his career against YouTube star KSI at Misfits Boxing 21 on March 29th, 2025. The booking has coming seemingly out of nowhere, as there was no indication that Danis would ever return to the sport after a disqualification loss to Logan Paul in his debut. That was the only time that Danis has competed under any combat sports ruleset in four years at that point, and he landed very few strikes before a brawl broke out. Naturally, many fans assumed he was serious when he announced his retirement shortly afterward.
He stayed relatively quiet for a while but something changed just a few weeks ago, when he announced his return to MMA with Global Fight League. Assuming he does fight at some point in 2025, it’ll be around six years from the last time he stepped in the cage as a Bellator fighter. Danis is undefeated in his professional MMA career with a 2-0 record, so a return that sport did make some sense. He was also at one point in time one of the top prospects in BJJ, so a return to professional grappling with one of several big promotions would also have been realistic.
Nobody would have predicted that Dillon Danis would return to boxing, although the match against KSI does actually have some background behind it. Long before Danis ever made his debut against Logan Paul, he was actually originally supposed to face KSI. The match was booked for the beginning of 2023 and it would have served as his introduction to boxing. That fell apart less than two weeks before the event was scheduled though, as Danis withdrew from the match. Although he was accused of being underprepared at the time, it appears as though he wants to make good on that promise and will take the match a little over three years later.
Misfits Boxing announced the news that Dillon Danis would be facing KSI in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
