Dante Leon just made a huge statement by earning a decision win over Tommy Langaker at ONE Fight Night 27 on January 10th, 2025. This wasn’t the first time that the two men have crossed paths either, as Langaker beat Leon on points in a gi match back in 2018. It’s been a very long time in the making, but the rematch between them was booked and Leon took full advantage of the opportunity for revenge. The stakes were much higher this time around as well, as both men have established themselves among the very best in the world and this was a match on the path to a title-shot at ONE Championship.
Leon was making a very quick turnaround too, as he made his promotional debut with a submission win over Bruno Pucci just a little over a month ago. Langaker on the other hand hadn’t competed for ONE Championship in almost a year by the time he faced Leon, with his last appearance being his second unsuccessful title-fight with Kade Ruotolo. Although Leon couldn’t get the finish in this match, he still earned a decision win and his promotional record moved to 2-0. With a win over the last challenger, it seems as though Leon is only one win at most away from facing Kade Ruotolo for the lightweight title.
