Damien Anderson has just taken another big step towards the UFC with a wild submission finish against Hondo Gutierrez at CFFC 150 on February 6th, 2026. Anderson has been doing MMA for a little over two years now and he was coming into this fight with a 4-0 record after finishing every one of his fights so far. Anderson hadn’t fought at all in 2025, but he did get a submission win over Sandrey Silva at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9. That meant he was undoubtedly on the UFC’s radar already and Gutierrez is another top bantamweight prospect, so a UFC contract was potentially on the line here.
Both men started out happy to strike but Gutierrez was able to use good footwork to cut off the cage and pressure Anderson up against it early on. Anderson worked his way free from the clinch and hit a knee on the way out, punishing Gutierrez for the choice to grapple. After a few seconds of striking it was Anderson’s turn to rush in and although Gutierrez was able to get his back off the cage, Anderson landed shots on the exit again. Gutierrez ducked under a punch but Anderson quickly got the upper hand, forcing Gutierrez to disengage when he was backed up against the cage.
Anderson was looking more comfortable and opening up with his striking more by this point, but this gave Gutierrez the opening he was looking for. He ducked under a punch and got around to Anderson’s back, taking a rear-bodylock and dragging him to the ground. Gutierrez couldn’t get any hooks in so he tried to come up on top, but Anderson hit a beautifully-timed entry into the legs with an empty half-guard hook. Anderson attacked a heel hook but switched into a kneebar as Gutierrez rolled to defend, showing off the incredibly high level of grappling Anderson brings to MMA as he forced Gutierrez to tap.
The full CFFC 150 event replay is available to watch on UFC Fight Pass, but the promotion shared the footage of Damien Anderson submitting Hondo Gutierrez in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
