Footage went viral recently of Craig Jones being escorted out of FloGrappling offices by security, without further explanation of the reason why at first. Naturally this caused quite a stir in the Jiu-Jitsu world and although Jones has been critical of FloGrappling many times in the past, this is not something anyone would have predicted. He has even competed on their Who’s Number One show multiple times in the past and appeared to have a positive relationship until more recently. He has since criticised them for several different aspects of their business, including the way they’ve promoted his own matches.
It’s not entirely clear why Jones was escorted off FloGrappling offices by security, and the organization’s initial statement on their official Instagram account only mentions trespassing:
“While we respect humour, we cannot tolerate trespassing or disruptions to the workplace. We are reviewing the matter internally and have referred the matter to local authorities.”
Naturally fans were incredibly curious to know exactly what it was that Craig Jones did to get escorted out of FloGrappling offices by security. Popular Jiu-Jitsu personality Alex Wendling works closely with Jones due to her work as a correspondent for the inaugural CJI and co-host of the recent podcast he released discussing the second edition of the event, and she commented on the post to hint at the nature of the problem:
“This is by far blowing the most little prank out of proportion and quite frankly lying to the cops.”
She then also shared a video to her own social media account to reassure people, but she wasn’t able to explain too much more about the incident itself:
Hey guys, today has been one of the most hectic days ever so if I haven’t gotten back to you, I’m sorry. A few people, actually a lot of people, have been reaching out to me and checking on Craig; including his brother because he can’t get in touch with him. Seth (Belisle) is handling everything and it’s not my place to say what exactly went down. When Craig does have the chance to tell his side of the story, which should be relatively soon… I doubt that he will have to spend the night in jail, the Jiu-Jitsu world’s gonna have a freaking heyday with all this. So, what the hell Flo? Like, what the actual hell?”
Jones himself then issued a statement himself, promising more details soon:
“Quick update guys, everything’s totally fine. There’s been a massive miscommunication, I’ll be able to update you guys tomorrow. My lawyer said I can’t speak any further about this, but I’m okay.”
