Huge news has just hit the BJJ community as Craig Jones has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming match against Tye Ruotolo after having an adverse reaction to his recent Coronavirus vaccine. He announced the news in a recent post to his official Instagram account and although he didn’t go into detail about the symptoms he’s suffering with, he did explain that he’s unable to train at all, never mind compete at the highest level.
The timing of this news couldn’t have been worse as Craig Jones is also in the middle of filming the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter, where he will be the grappling coach for Team Volkanovski. While the majority of the BJJ community, including the Ruotolo brothers themselves, were wishing Craig Jones a speedy recovery and hoping that he can deal with the reaction he’s had to the Coronavirus vaccine quickly, AJ Agazarm seemed to doubt the truth of the story in his comments:
“Hahahahah are you also afraid of the dark? Heal up champ , the kid is no joke , I get it.”
As with any unfortunate news, the show must go on. As a result, FloGrappling have wasted no time in announcing the replacement who will be stepping in against Tye Ruotolo, William Tackett. While the Jones v Ruotolo match was intended to act as the main event for the upcoming Who’s Number One event, it remains to be seen whether the match will remain in the same position now that Jones is out, or whether the card will be shuffled around a little to compensate.
