Craig Jones recently commented on his past appearances with controversial right-wing commentator and host Alex Jones’ show, revealing that he now looks at them differently. Jones is one of the most polarizing figures in the US and is perhaps most known for his comments on the Sandy Hook School shooting, that resulted in him being sued for defamation. He has been involved in multiple other controversies during his time in the media but it was actually while that lawsuit was ongoing that Craig Jones first appeared on his show. The two men both have the base of operations for their respective businesses in Austin, Texas and Jones went on the show in part to discuss his grappling career.
This appearance was at the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and although they did spend some time talking about Jiu-Jitsu, they also spoke about a vaccine reaction that resulted in him withdrawing from a match with Tye Ruotolo. Craig then returned to Alex Jones’ show for the second time in 2023, and this appearance resulted in some footage that went viral when Craig choked Alex unconscious at his request. Alex got put to sleep but he was perfectly happy with the situation, as he’d actually been asking grapplers to choke him out for quite some time and Craig was the first one to oblige him.
This has all been public knowledge for years of course, but it recently resurfaced when Jacob Rodriguez was banned from B-Team amid misconduct allegations. Jones shared advice for men in the sport to avoid predatory or inappropriate behaviour and he was receiving praise from most of the BJJ community for his actions in this matter. One commenter brought up his past association with Alex Jones though, and naturally it was not well-received. That was when Jones shared his first comments on Alex Jones since he made those appearances, and it appears as though he has changed since growing more accustomed to fame.
