The event will feature eight of the best teams in the world battling it out for a million dollars, and the full lineup for every team at CJI 2 can be found here. There will also be an incredible four-woman tournament with $100,000 on the line and a last minute superfight between Craig Jones and Chael Sonnen.

Luke Griffith vs Pat Downey
Griffith sits to guard immediately as the match starts and within 30 seconds he’s coming up off an armdrag to take Downey’s back, trapping an arm from a standing position. Griffith switches to a rear-triangle but Downey scrambles free, and he starts trying to pass very low. Griffith attacks the choi bar but Downey escapes again, and he’s committing to passing from his knees. Another triangle attempt from Griffith and it looks tight at first, but Downey pulls his head free and he stands to pass this time. Downey drops into closed guard when Griffith attempts another armdrag, and he’s able to slow Griffith down from here. Downey stands when Griffith opens his guard and Griffith tries to invert to attack the upper body, but nothing comes of it. Downey gets a warning for inactivity and Griffith sits to guard again on the reset, drawing some boos from the crowd. Griffith gets a nice back-take but Downey shakes him off again, and the last 30 seconds of the match winds down.

Vagner Rocha vs Elijah Dorsey
Dorsey shoots early but Rocha stuffs it, and they start battling in the clinch instead. Dorsey pulls guard after a while and Rocha is trying to use heavy pressure to get through his half-guard, switching between kneeling to the split-squat as needed. Rocha keeps threatening a toehold and Dorsey switches to closed guard to prevent it, but Rocha stands to break it and drops back into the knee-shield half-guard. Dorsey wrestles up and they’re both standing, with Rocha being more aggressive and trying to drive him into the pit wall. Dorsey shoots in for a quick single-leg but Rocha gets very deep on a kimura counter, using it to force Dorsey to abandon top position to defend it. Both men stand back up and Dorsey pulls guard just as the match ends.

Giancarlo Bodoni vs Gavin Corbe
Bodoni drives Corbe into the pit wall immediately and dumps him to the mat, while Corbe manages to get in on the legs quickly. Corbe is switching legs and transitioning well but Bodoni stays on top and keeps stripping grips, patiently working his way further into his pass. Bodoni settles down and Corbe manages to keep hold of half-guard, but Bodoni pins the bottom foot and almost finishes the pass. Corbe turtles to prevent it but Bodoni dives over on to his back, locking up a body-triangle quickly. Bodoni locks up the rear-naked choke over the jaw and forces Corbe to tap.

Giancarlo Bodoni vs Taylor Pearman
Bodoni starts out slower this time and sits to guard, while Pearman hits a nice backstep into the saddle. Bodoni escapes and stands up, with Pearman sitting to guard this time. Pearman gets another entry to the legs and Bodoni escapes quickly again, returning to the split-squat with heavy pressure. Pearman keeps going for the false-reap but Bodoni is so good at shutting it down early on and immediately returning to passing. Pearman gets deep on one and gets into the saddle, exposing the heel and Bodoni appears to tap. Pearman and the crowd both start complaining, so the referee pauses the action to review the footage. They make the decision that Bodoni did tap, and Pearman is declared the winner.

Dorian Olivarez vs Taylor Pearman
Pearman pulls guard early and Olivarez is using his loose outside passing at a high pace straight away. Olivarez almost passes but Pearman retains guard well, pummelling his foot over the top in to rubber guard when Olivarez pressures in. Pearman switches to an armbar and it looks very deep, but Olivarez is able to escape. After some more rapid movement on the outside, Olivarez dives into north-south and keeps Pearman’s legs away from him. Olivarez switches to knee-on belly and slides into mount, isolating one of Pearman’s arms but giving up position shortly after. Olivarez tries to dive on a leglock from the top and does actually secure another pass, but the match ends just after.

Mica Galvao vs Deandre Corbe
Galvao and Corbe are both taking their time on the feet and working for a good opening. Mica shoots in at the minute-mark and Corbe sprawls hard, but Galvao collects the leg and finishes the takedown anyway. Corbe uses a butterfly hook to get some elevation but Galvao balances excellently and stays on top, dropping into a bodylock with Corbe pressed against the wall. Galvao works his way into mount and rolls through for the back when Corbe tries to re-guard, giving Corbe enough space to recover as he tries to come back up. Galvao over-commits on a pass and Corbe gets in on the legs, exposing the heel without having the knee-line secured. Galvao escapes and they both stand, but he pulls guard shortly after. Corbe drops down to pass and Galvao gets to closed guard, using the threat of a submission to come up on top for a sweep. Galvao tries to top-spin for an armbar but Corbe escapes early and comes up on top, with the match ending shortly after.

Pawel Jaworski vs Lucas ‘Hulk’ Barbosa
Jaworski sits down and Barbosa starts trying to pass to north-south whenever he’s inverting. Neither man is committing too much for the first few minutes, so neither one of them is able to get too deep into their own games. Barbosa is pressuring in well but stands up to disengage whenever Jaworski gets anywhere near the entries he wants. Jaworski gets the best opportunity of the match right in the final minute, as he finally gets the entry to the legs and quickly sets up a kneebar. Jaworski tries to finish it but Barbosa escapes and the match ends shortly after.

Charles Negromonte vs Ronaldo Junior
Negromonte and Junior are both fighting for dominant position in the clinch, but they’re also working at a pretty slow pace. The referee intervenes after a few minutes to warn them both for inaction, and there’s another break shortly after when Negromonte is hit with an accidental eye-poke. Junior sits to guard and slides into an ankle-lock, but Negromonte stays heavy and eventually frees his leg. Junior stands back up during a scramble and starts trying to push Negromonte into the pit wall. Negromonte gets a rear-bodylock but Junior immediately picks up the pace to scramble free before Negromonte can complete the takedown. Junior shoots in for a takedown of his own in the dying seconds and manages to secure top position just before the time runs out.

Owen Jones vs Kaynan Duarte
Duarte comes out aggressively and pushes Jones to the mat, but Jones is happy to accept bottom position. Duarte is using his weight advantage well and working patiently to pass, but Jones’ guard retention is excellent. Duarte is disengaging when Jones does start to threaten his legs too much, but he’s always straight back in with heavy pressure. Duarte doesn’t really progress much though and the referee stands them up. Duarte is hyper-aggressive on the feet again and pushes Jones towards the wall to take him down, getting an underhook and driving through his guard. Jones retains guard again and they actually stop actively competing a few seconds before the time runs out.

Marcin Maciulewicz vs Felipe Pena
Both men want to stay standing for a little while but Maciulewicz jumps into closed guard after a few minutes, taking Pena by surprise. Maciukewicz gets an ankle-lock grip and moves into outside ahsi garami, trying to take Pena off balance to get a better position. Pena is lifting Maciukewicz’s hips up, slowly getting to better posture without being sat down. Pena finally frees his foot and starts passing, fighting his way through Maciukewicz’s inversions to get to side control. Pena collects an arm and tries to set up a D’arce choke, but he abandons it to stay on top. Pena attacks a kimura and locks up a triangle to help, but Maciulewicz escapes. Maciukewicz stands up in the final minute and the clock winds down with them fighting in the clinch again.

Paul Ardila vs Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira
Oliveira sits to guard and Ardila is very aware of the danger he presents, staying low and keeping his legs far away. Oliveira is keeping up a high pace off his back and working hard to get an opening, but Ardila is very disciplined in keeping himself safe. He isn’t really able to get deep into any of his passing attempts over the first few minutes though, and the referee actually intervenes to give him a warning for inactivity. Oliveira has his closest attempt of the match just before the final minute, but Ardila disengages to free his leg again. Not much really happens after that, and the match comes to an end without either man making a real statement,

Lucas Kanard vs PJ Barch
Kanard sits to guard and Barch happily sits with him to get into a battle for leglocks. Brch uses an attempt to come up for a pass but Kanard gets an entry that makes him sit down to defend. Kanard gets a K-guard entry but Barch escapes, and his counter-attacks are really helping him prevent Kanard from getting too close to anything. Kanard sticks to his gameplan of attacking the legs and Barch is looking for a counter every time, beating him to the roll every time he tries to invert. Neither man is able to get a real solid attack as the final minute approaches, and it’s way too close to call. More of the same ensues, and the match comes to a close without either of them being able to claim a clear win by decision.

Declan Moody vs Ryan Aitken
Aitken slides into the legs from standing and wrestles up quickly after it, almost bringing down Moody before he can disengage. They wrestle on the feet for a little while before Aitken slides into the legs again, but this time Moody is ready and he almost counters with a back-take. Aitken recovers to guard but it isn’t long before Moody passes, settling into north-south and blocking Aitken’s hips. Aitken takes a while but works his way to turtle and eventually stands up, with Moody maintaining a rear-bodylock. Aitken scrambles free and returns to standing after a quick leglock attempt. Aitken hits a beautiful butterfly sweep from standing, and he sits back to attack the legs from the top. Moody escapes and passed immediately, briefly attempting a kimura too. Aitken turtles again and re-guards, but Moody connects his hands around the waist to bodylock pass. Aitken turtles once more and gets to half-guard, with Moody stepping into mount just before the match ends.

Fabricio Andrey vs Alan Sanchez
Sanchez sits to guard and Andrey almost passes early, but he opens himself up to a choi bar in the process. He shuts down the entry quickly and returns to passing, before locking up a head and arm control that encourages Sanchez to come up on top. Andrey switches off to a crucifix and Sanchez frees his arm, shaking Andrey off when he tries to take the back. Sanchez dives for an arm from top position but Andrey comes back up on top himself when he deals with it. Sanchez tries to wrestle up but Andrey hits a lovely backstep counter that sees him pass in one fluid motion. Sanchez recovers and Andrey tries to snatch a front headlock, but Sanchez frees himself and continues playing guard. Sanchez stands and Andrey hits a lovely ankle-pick, almost securing a dominant position too. Andrey tries to climb to the back but there’s not enough time left and the match ends in a draw.

Belal Etiabari vs Geo Martinez
Etiabari sits to guard and almost gets in on a kneebar as soon as Martinez engages, switching off to an ankle-lock when he defends. He pummels his leg inside for butterfly ashi and keeps cranking on the ankle for the finish, eventually going belly-down too. Martinez appears to tap and the referee calls the fight, confirming it by video and reaffirming the decision despite Martinez’s complaints.

Belal Etiabari vs Kyle Boehm
Etiabari sits and Boehm drops to his knees to pass. Etiabari gets an entry to the legs and cranks on a straight-ankle lock but Boehm frees his foot and starts attacking the legs himself. Boehm tries for a toehold and used the reaction to set up a heel hook, submitting Etiabari and potentially causing an injury.

Kenta Iwamoto vs Kyle Boehm
Boehm gets a front-headlock against the wall early but Iwamoto escapes and Boehm pulls guard. Boehm is searching for underhooks but Iwamoto deals with it and forces him to turtle. Boehm clears the hooks quickly and gets his back to the mat, while Iwamoto settles in to side control. Iwamoto steps over to trap the legs but Boehm eventually creates enough space to escape and stands up. Boehm pulls guard again, before locking up closed guard to slow down Iwamoto’s passing attempts. Boehm tries to move to rubber guard but Iwamoto prevents the transition, so Boehm stands up. Boehm tries an ankle-pick before sitting to guard again, but he accidentslly strikes Iwamoto and gets reset to the feet. Iwamoto hits a slick inside-trip and moves to the bodylock, preventing Boehm from moving for the finak seconds of the match.

Jozef Chen vs Max Hanson
Hanson sits to guard and Chen wastes no time, working hard to get to his preferred passing positions. Hanson is doing well to maintain inside position from the bottom, keeping Chen from getting too far into any of his passes. Chen sees an opportunity and drops into a dogbar, but he recognises that it isn’t going to work and he moves on. Chen keeps up steady improvement in position and almost gets one pass, before hitting it a minute later and stepping straight into mount to control Hanson. Hanson uses the wall to escape and gets back to guard, but the match ends almost immediately after Chen dropped for a leglock.

Nicky Rodriguez vs Brandon Reed
Rodriguez sits to guard and tries to wrestle up, but Reed shrugs him off. He sits again but Reed is moving backwards a lot. Reed dives forward and tries a double-under stack pass, but Rodriguez creates enough space to recover and stands back up. Rodriguez tries for a single-leg but Reed shuts it down, then tries for an unsuccessful super duck himself. Rodriguez keeps sitting to guard and wrestling up, but Reed shuts it down every time. One attempt gets Reed to sprawl heavily and Rodriguez jumps over him to take the back. There’s a little bit of handfighting but Rodriguez gets the rear-naked choke eventuskly.

Nicky Rodriguez vs Michael Pixley
Pixley hits a big footsweep straight away and locks on to a front-headlock as Rodriguez stands up. Rodriguez escapes and sits to guard in the center, but he finds himself back in the front-headlock when he tries to wrestle up. Rodriguez escapes again and Pixley tries a double-under stack pass after, but he deals with it pretty comfortably. Rodriguez tries another wrestle-up and Pixley footsweeps him, but he’s not following it up unless he can get the front-headlock he wants. Rodriguez escapes and gets back to standing, testing out Pixley’s wrestling again for a while. Rodriguez keeps motioning for Pixley to engage and the referee does warn him for pushing Rodriguez away without following up. Rodriguez alternates between sitting down and wrestling on the feet but he can’t get anything going before the match ends.

Chris Wojcik vs Jacob Couch
Both men sit down and Couch comes up first, only to dive on the legs immediately. Wojcik escapes but Couch sits back for another ankle-lock and gets a little deeper this time. Another escape by Wojcik and another ankle-lock attempt from Couch after, but he can’t finish this one either. Couch sits for the legs again but Wojcik comes up to pass this time, shutting down Couch’s offense but not really getting close to pass. Wojcik sits to attack the legs and Couch gets up this time, but they switch positions shortly after when Couch is unsuccessful. Wojcik works his way into a bodylock and keeps Couch pinned with it for a while, before getting stopped in half-guard. Wojcik runs out of time to finish it before the match ends though.

Victor Hugo vs Dante Leon
Leon pulls guard but there’s an accidental clash of heads on the way, so they pause and reset. Leon does the same again and Hugo is trying to pass from his feet, moving outside Leon’s guard at first. Hugo attempts a bodylock but can’t connect his hands, so he returns to passing on the feet. Every time Leon reaches for the legs, Hugo is sprawling heavily and making it very hard for him to get hold of them. Hugo almost gets around to north-south but Leon retains guard and keeps working on pummelling his legs while looking for choi bar entries. The pace slows towards the end and Hugo encourages Leon to stand, but he stays on his back and the match ends shortly after.

Helena Crevar vs Adele Fornarino
Fornarino sits to guard and Crevar engages straight away, stepping into her closed guard. Fornarino goes for the Mir lock but Crevar stands to escape, dropping her back down to the ground in the process. Crevar picks up the pace with her passing attempts now but she can’t get too deep on any of them, and Fornarino attempts a quick sweep. Crevar dives on an ankle-lock as she gets swept and although she can’t finish it, it’s enough to keep Fornarino on her back. She tries another one shortly after but comes back up to continue trying to pass until the end of the round.
Fornarino sits to guard again in the second round and Crevar briefly sits to attack the legs before deciding to commit to passing. Fornarino exposes one of Crevar’s arms and almost sweeps Crevar when she defends, but Crevar gets back up on top. Another sweep from Crevar leads to another ankle-lock attempt from Crevar, and this one seems much tighter. Fornarino escapes and almost gets a choi bar entry, but Crevar defends well and gets back to passing. She dives on one more weak ankle-lock attempt but the round ends straight after.
Crevar gets made to tie her hair back between rounds and Fornarino sits to guard again as soon as the final round starts. Crevar sits back for an ankle-lock a few more times but it’s never very deep. Fornarino hits a choi bar entry that causes a major defensive reaction from Crevar, but she still escapes and comes back up on top. Crevar is trying to pass more than attack the legs in the last half of the round but she has one final attempt just as the match ends.

Ana Vieira vs Sarah Galvao
Galvao pulls guard after a little handfighting and tries a quick sweep but Vieira shuts it down and starts passing. She gets close but Galvao turtles and Vieira switches to the front-headlock instead. They stand up there and Vieira sits back to finish the guillotine, but Galvao escapes quickly. She is working her way into the heavy stack passes that she’s known for but Vieira is able to attack the legs and then use the threat to sweep her. Galvao returns fire with a sweep of her own but she can’t keep Vieira down, as she wrestles up back on top and stays there until the end of the round.
They work in the clinch in the second round and Galvao gets Vieira up high on the wall, but she can’t capitalise on it with a takedown. Galvao does the same again but this time she hits a huge harai goshi off the wall and sends Vieira flying. Galvao locks up a triangle choke in the scramble that follows, but the angle isn’t right for her to finish it and she lets go. Vieira comes up on top and immediately charges forward, but Galvao gets to closed guard. Galvao is keeping a higher pace from the bottom and attempts an armbar, but she gets slammed and releases right it before the round ends.
Galvao pulls guard early in the last round and tries to wrestle up, but Vieira catches her in the front-headlock when she does. Galvao stands and drives Vieira into the wall for a huge double-leg, then transitions to the back as she tries to stand back up. Galvao switches to an armbar and then a triangle choke but Vieira is able to shake her off and stay on top. Galvao hits a nice butterfly sweep but Vieira counters with an ankle-lock, only for Galvao to escape and settle into a leg-drag position. Galvao advances to side control and eventually works her way to the back to set up another triangle choke, but the round ends with it still locked in.
