Craig Jones has just revealed the shocking news that he was allegedly drugged during his trip to Colombia, and had to be helped back to his AirBNB as a result. The BJJ star has been doing a rather unorthodox tour of the world in recent months, including trips to Ukraine and now Colombia as well. Both are known as incredibly dangerous places at the moment, and it appears as though Jones has come face to face with that danger in Colombia. He recently shared shocking CCTV footage of himself being helped by his friend Seth Belisle as he stumbles in an elevator and through a hallway.
He later explained in one of his Instagram stories what had actually happened to him:
“What actually happened to me is that I was given ‘The Devil’s breath’, scopolamine. It’s made out of some kind of random f***ing tree out here in Colombia.”
Jones also shared exactly what the experience was like:
“What’s strange about all that, you can still remember all the details, in terms of your pin numbers and s**t like that. I couldn’t walk, but I still remembered the seven digit entry code to my f***ing AirBnb, which is why you lose so much money.”
Although it might seem like an unlikely scenario at first, Colombia is actually notorious for this. In fact the US Embassy issued a security alert to warn people of just how common the practice is, and to be aware of it. Craig Jones explained that he was actually drugged in a relatively simple fashion during his trip to Colombia:
“They snuck it into our margaritas. I saw my friend Seth (Belisle), 5-foot-1 about 100 pounds, with a full strength alcoholic beverage, so I snatched it out of his hands and drank both of them for us. Little did I know, I’d be taking both hits of scopolamine.”
Taking double the amount that was intended for him would obviously have had severe effects, and Jones explained that he hasn’t fully recovered from it yet either:
“It f***ed me up for a while, still have a fair bit of memory loss. My brain has obviously not been optimal for years, but it’s sub optimal now, so be careful out here in Medellin,”
He finished off with more than just a simple warning to anyone visiting the country too:
“This is a word of warning to anybody out there playing it easy in Colombia. You can be 6-foot-6, you can have strong cauliflower ears, you can have a perfect hairline and a beautiful Australian accent, but you too can be a victim of the Devil’s breath.”
