Pit Submission Series 2 took place on February 24th, 2024 and the results saw both Craig Jones and Joao Miyao making good use of the unique Karate Combat pit wall to lock up a submission finish against their opponents. Both men were facing UFC veterans with some professional grappling experience and first up was Miyao, who was up against bantamweight contender Ricky Simon. After a short break for some Karate Combat matchups, Pit Submission Series returned on the live broadcast with Jones taking on Philip Rowe in the final grappling match of the night.
Ricky Simon was coming into his match with Joao Miyao with a wrestling advantage, but Miyao negated that by sitting down immediately after the match began. Simon started using quick lateral movement to pass but Miyao showed some of the elite guard-retention he has been known for in his career. Simon dropped into a double-under pass but Miyao was able to work his way back to closed guard, with Simon moving him closer to the pit wall to get an advantage. That plan backfired when Miyao used the angle of the wall to transition to K-guard and started attacking his legs, leaving him with no room to escape. Miyao was able to pummel his legs well and get to the saddle, where Simon tapped as soon as he exposed his heel.
Craig Jones and Philip Rowe were up against each other in the next and last grappling match of the night, and it was over just as quickly as the first. Jones and Rowe were wrestling on the feet for about a minute, with Jones guiding him towards the pit walls over and over again. He used a Russian 2-on-1 to get Rowe to lean against the wall and switched it to a strong overhook, using the angle to leap into a flying triangle choke. Jones locked it up halfway up the pit wall and pulled on Rowe’s head to get the finish he was looking for, capping off a great pair of results at Pit Submission Series 2.
