The Combat Jiu Jitsu Bantamweight World Championships have just finished for another year and a completely new champion has been crowned for 2021! The returning champion, Richard Alarcon, did make good on his status as one of the favorites to win again this year as he made it all the way to the final match before losing. Alarcon managed to submit both Manuel Priego and Marcelo Cohen within the regulation time before he defeated Suraj Budhram by fastest escape in EBI overtime after a close match.

The opposite side of the bracket saw a few more surprises however as David Weintraub managed to register the night’s only TKO finish before being submitted by Ben Eddy in the Quarter-Finals. Elias Anderson managed to squeeze past Isaac Cordova in the opening round before submitting Zach Schneider in the Quarter-Finals himself. From there, Eddy and Anderson met in one of the closest matches of the night that ended up being called in Anderson’s favor after he registered the fastest escape in EBI overtime.

The final then saw Anderson and Alarcon meet in an action-packed match with Alarcon clearly showing himself to be the superior wrestler. Anderson pulled guard several times to try and force the match to the ground but ate several shots from his opponent each time. Anderson tried to attack the legs more than once but couldn’t manage to get any solid attempts going before Alarcon was able to disengage and go back on the offensive with strikes. After three rounds of EBI overtime each, Anderson managed to secure the armbar from the spiderweb position to get the tap and be declared the winner.

Now we only have a matter of months to wait before Combat Jiu Jitsu returns to our screens, with the Welterweight edition being set for June 6th.
