Charles Oliveira has fought almost all of the best lightweight fighters in the world but according to him, there’s one man who calls him out but doesn’t accept the actual fight; Dan Hooker. The two men have been circling one another for a long time now and although a lot has been said in public, they still haven’t met in the cage. They aren’t going to be up against one another any time soon either, because Oliveira is currently preparing to fight Rafael Fiziev at UFC Rio later this year. Hooker isn’t booked to fight anyone at the moment but he had to withdraw from his last fight earlier this hesr due to a hand injury.

The topic came up in a recent interview that Oliveira did with AG.Fight, where he was explaining that Fiziev wasn’t the only opponent offered to him:

“I’m not a guy who goes around playing games. But I was offered names, and they didn’t even want it. So today, when you release this, these guys will tweet ‘Coward! I wanted it, he didn’t want it!’. But it’s a lie, my whole life it’s been like this.”

He also spoke about the trend of fighters calling each other out on social media:

“They poke around, talk s**t from the other side. When I say ‘Come on, I’m here’, they take it and run the other way.”

That’s when Hooker was brought up, and Oliveira had some strong words for him:

“This guy is also just talking, for a long time. This soap opera, it’s been going on for years. He talked, and talked and talked, and it never happened. So really it’s all talk. That’s the reality. He talked a lot of nonsense, a guy who speaks a lot of nonsense on the internet, but when he’s called, he doesn’t go.”

The full interview with Charles Oliveira where he discusses the potential fight with Dan Hooker was uploaded to the official YouTube channel of AG.Fight:
