Controversial fighter Bryce Mitchell was just choked out by Jean Silva at UFC 314 on April 12th, 2025. There was plenty of attention on this matchup heading into the fight, primarily because Mitchell had recently made comments that inflamed all corners of the MMA world. Mitchell was already criticised for believing that the earth is flat, but describing Adolf Hitler as ‘a good guy’ and denying the holocaust are what attracted the most anger. He also took aim at Karate Combat for editing an image of him and pulled out of a planned match in order to prepare for this fight with Silva instead.
Silva came into the fight eager to prove a point, as Mitchell’s recent comments had clearly lit a fire under him. Mitchell landed some good leg kicks throughout the first round but Silva got the upper hand in most of their striking exchanges. Silva also shut down every takedown attempt and even threatened his opponent with a deep guillotine late in the round, securing the first round on the scorecards. Silva dropped Mitchell early in the second round and he was starting to run away with the fight when a huge opportunity came. He stuffed another takedown and locked up a ninja choke, squeezing hard to put Mitchell to sleep and maintain his 100% record of finishes in the UFC.
