Top BJJ competitor Bre Stikk has just been promoted to black belt by her coach Richie ‘Boogieman’ Martinez at 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu San Diego. It’s a undoubtedly well-deserved promotion, as Stikk is a fantastic competitor and she’s already been able to defeat experienced grapplers on the mats in competition. Understandably as a 10th Planet competitor, Stikk has found a lot of success in no gi competition and she has had had particularly strong performances under the Combat Jiu-Jitsu ruleset this year.
Although she’s had plenty of success in smaller tournaments over the years, she rose to prominence back at Medusa 3 in a Combat Jiu-Jitsu flyweight tournament. Not only did Stikk manage to win all three of her matches and take home the title, but she did so in very impressive fashion too. Stikk submitted both of her first two opponents in the regulation time period before engaging in one of the toughest matches of the night against Kiaya Jackson. Although she was against very tough opposition, Stikk managed to win that final match in EBI overtime.
She has since continued to compete for Medusa and although she hasn’t been able to add another belt to her collection just yet, it might just be a matter of time. She’s had a diverse career so far that includes attempting to qualify for ADCC by competing at ADCC trials, becoming a member of the US beach wrestling world team, and several amateur MMA fights as well. It’s not clear what the future has in store for Stikk but given the success that she’s managed to achieve already, it’ll be interesting to see how she’s been able to develop since then.
