The IBJJF Salvador Fall Open 2025 took place from March 29th and 30th, 2025 and there were quite a few entertaining matches taking place. The biggest winner on the first day was the newest star to emerge from Fratres Jiu-Jitsu in the last few years, Luis Oliveira. Not only did he manage to win the ultra-heavyweight division in the gi, but he actually won all 6 of his matches and won the absolute division too. The man he beat in the final and left with the silver medal was Gabriel Brod; who was fresh off an impressive performance of his own in winning the heavyweight division.
Brod had some tough opponents along the way there too, but some of the best matchups came out of the super-heavyweight division. Rafael Trabuco won the gold medal there and Hygor Brito left with a silver medal in the end, but Trabuco managed to win a bronze medal in the absolute as well. The other man standing in third place on the absolute podium was Rafael Paganini, and that wasn’t the only medal he won at the IBJJF Salvador Fall Open 2025. Paganini also earned a silver medal in the medium-heavyweight division and the only man who beat him there was veteran contender Matheus Spirandeli.
A few of these men returned for the no gi divisions on the second day too, with Trabuco getting gold at super-heavyweight and in the absolute while his teammate Brod won the heavyweight division and took silver next to him in the absolute. There weren’t many female competitors unfortunately, but Sabatha Lais and Andressa Tolentino won gold at medium-heavyweight and featherweight in the gi respectively. Lais settled for silver in the absolute to, closing out the bracket with her teammate and middleweight champion Kamilla Souza. Eliza Vasconcelos was the other female double champion, winning the absolute after picking up a default gold at super-heavyweight.
