Karate Combat 47 took place on June 28th, 2024 and a brawl broke out after one fight, with the promotion’s president stepping in to choke out the aggressor. It all started when one cornerman leapt into the promotion’s famous pit once one of the fights came to an end, and he stormed across the mats to initiate the brawl. Security guards immediately jumped in to keep him away from the rest of the crowd and several other people started to get involved, including Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi, but they weren’t able to prevent him from reaching the other side of the pit
Zaidi sprung into action just as the cornerman began to enter the crowd, and he was able to drag him back into the pit with the help of security and some bystanders. Unfortunately for the cornerman, Zaidi isn’t just a public figure working for Karate Combat and dealing with the business side of things. Zaidi is actually a two-time kickboxing world champion who holds both a Judo and BJJ black belt, and he currently operates as an MMA coach. The cornerman was clearly still trying to get at someone, so Zaidi used his years of grappling training to his advantage and locked up a rear-naked choke in a standing position.
The security guards worked around him to help calm down the rest of the crowd and it was only a matter of seconds before Zaidi had choked the cornerman unconscious. His quick thinking helped put an end to the brawl at Karate Combat 47 before it really got out of hand, and the cornerman regained consciousness shortly afterward. It does not appear as though anyone suffered any significant damage as a result of the brawl and the event continued as planned straight after.
Several different angles of the Karate Combat president choking out an aggressor during the brawl at Karate Combat 47 were caught on camera and they were shared to the promotion’s official Instagram account:
