BJJ Stars 14: The History took place on December 7th, 2024 and every competitor left it all on the mats in order to get the results they wanted. There was several exciting superfights taking place, but the main attraction was the stacked featherweight grand prix that featured 8 of the best gi grapplers from the lighter weight classes. The night was full of incredibly tough battles and many of them were won by thin margins, with only one submission taking place throughout the entire show. That came in the opening round of the grand prix tournament, when Meyram Maquine leapt into a flying armbar to submit Cleber Sousa.
Maquine beat Kennedy Maciel in the semi-final, and that win over one of his biggest threats secured his place in the grand finale. The man standing opposite him was Fabricio Andrey, and he managed to beat both Malachi Edmond and Diego Sodre in order to meet Maquine there. Andrey managed to pull off the upset by beating the favorite to win the whole tournament, outscoring Maquine to win a decision in the final. That wasn’t the only upset either, as the main event saw Jansen Gomes overcome a size difference to beat Fellipe Andrew on points and claim the medium-heavyweight title.
Jaime Canuto was the other champion emerging from BJJ Stars 14: The History, as he beat Piter Frank on points in order to become the promotion’s masters middleweight champion. The two women’s superfights were entertaining battles too, starting out with Leticia Cardozo earning the win in a tough match against Izadora Silva. The other match was one with even higher stakes, as the two of the best competitors from the heavier weight classes were booked against one another. Tayane Porfirio came out on top in that matchup as she beat Giovanna Jara in convincing fashion through the use of heavy top pressure.
