BJJ Clubes is coming back for their second season in 2025 and the new promotion is making a huge leap forward with the teams that will be involved. The original format in 2024 was a huge success, as 8 teams were put together to represent various Brazilian football teams and they battled it out across four events. Each team consisted of 7 elite competitors and they went head-to-head in what was effectively a series of dual meets, forming a knockout tournament that culminated in the epic grand finale. There were memorable moments throughout each event and several crazy upsets, with Botafago ultimately emerging victorious.

Although the promotion originally announced they were going to double in size and move to 16 teams for 2025, they’ve since pulled back on that and sought out a different change instead. Now they’ll be moving away from the connection with Brazilian football and going back to their BJJ roots instead, with 8 major teams from all around Brazil putting together their lineups right now. From Nova Uniao and GF Team to Alliance Jiu-Jitsu and Gracie Barra, some of the teams are steeped in history that includes some of the biggest legends of the sport. Rounding out the tournament is Infight, Almeida Jiu-Jitsu, Double Five Jiu-Jitsu, and Ataque Duplo.

Although BJJ Clubes aren’t going to be moving to 16 teams for the 2025 season, they are going to keep the enhanced prize money that they announced alongside that. There’s more than twice as much money on the line as last year, with the winning team now getting 300,000 Brazilian Real (over $55,000) to share between them. The second-placed team will receive 150,000 (over $27,000) to share between them and the one that finishes third will receive 50,000 (over $9,000). The first event of the current season is scheduled for August 3rd, 2025 and the other three events will take place on undisclosed dates in September, October, and December.

BJJ Clubes announced the 8 major teams that will compete in their 2025 season in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
