Bianca Basilio just put on an absolutely flawless display of elite Jiu-Jitsu at ONE Fight Night 22 on May 3rd, 2024 and delivered one of the most impressive results that ONE Championship has ever seen in a grappling match. Basilio has had mixed results competing for the promotion so far, as she started out by winning her debut match against Milena Sakumoto by submission back in 2022 but couldn’t quite deliver the same results in her next outing against Tammi Musumeci. It was an incredibly close matchup and it really could have gone either way, but in the end it was Musumeci who was given the judge’s decision and Basilio left with a 1-1 record.
Naturally Basilio was looking to bounce back from that loss when she was booked against Nanami Ichikawa and not only did she do that, but she sent a message to every other female competitor on the ONE Championship roster. Basilio took Ichikawa’s back and sunk in the rear-naked choke after around 30 seconds of action and the referee waved the fight off at the 35-second mark when it was clear that Ichikawa was unconscious. Basilio has got to be close to a rematch with Tammi Musumeci after a performance like that but even if the promotion is hesitant to make that booking right now, there’s also the prospect of a fun match with Liisi Vaht after she also made a big impression recently.
