Beatriz ‘Bia’ Mesquita just won her professional MMA debut in incredibly impressive fashion at Spaten Fight Night on June 15th, 2024. She was booked to compete in the very first fight of the night against Jorgina Ramos, a veteran striker who would also be competing in MMA for the first time in her career. She wasn’t the only big name on the card either, as it was headlined by a rematch between Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva that was going to take place under boxing rules. That match was a highly unusual one and because it was an exhibition match, it was ruled a draw when neither man was able to get the finish.

Mesquita easily stole the show though, and it’s no surprise seeing as she’s been working towards this moment for over a year now. She showed some good head movement during the feeling-out process before throwing an overhand right to set up a bodylock takedown. Ramos worked her way back up but Mesquita dumped her back down with a big throw, landing a few strikes in half-guard before stepping into mount. She increased the output then and hit Ramos with several heavy shots that encouraged her to turn to her front, allowing Mesquita to take the back. It was only a matter of seconds at that point, as Mesquita sunk in the rear-naked choke almost immediately and squeezed hard to get the tap at 2:33 of the very first round.
