Battleground Grappling 6 took place on September 28th, 2024 and the Australian promotion put together a card that produced plenty of fun results. Some of the best grapplers from all around the country were matched against one another and there was always going to be fireworks with some of these competitors involved. The night started with the preliminary card and there were plenty of submission finishes, but young prospect Sousuke Oshima stood out even among them. The 17 year-old from Tokyo is clearly one to watch for the future, and his heel hook finish of Harrison Everett wouldn’t have looked out of place coming from a veteran competitor.
Oshima actually closed out the preliminary card and the main card began with the promotion’s first ever Combat Jiu-Jitsu match between Alex Torres and Jamie Hunt. Torres got the win to make history and he was followed by Rodrigo Costa, who won the second CJJ match in the co-main event. Shortly before Costa got his win, Daiki Yonekura got a decision win in one of the biggest matches on the main card. That all led up to the main event of Battleground Grappling 6, where Thomas David beat Brodie Sprlyan by decision to claim the promotion’s under 99kg title when the results were read.
