Arman Tsarukyan just put on a very impressive display of grappling in his match against Sharaputdin Magomedov at a Hype FC event on December 30th, 2025. The match was originally announced as a title-fight in the under 84kg division but the promotion didn’t actually plan out a way to definitively crown a champion, because it were no judges or points-systems being used. Instead, it was a submission-only bout with a very short time-limit and if there was no submission within the regulation period then the match would be ruled a draw. Given that Tsarukyan was already up against a pretty big size disadvantage, this was always going go be a very tough challenge for him.
Tsarukyan took the fight to Magomedov right from the start though, pressuring him up against the ropes and using a reverse kimura grip to keep him under control. He used that grip to set up a shot and transition to a bodylock, but Magomedov actually wound up on top during the scramble that followed. Tsarukyan popped back up immediately though, defending a back-take attempt from Magomedov before pinning him against the ropes again. Magomedov only got his back off the ropes for a brief moment, but he immediately walked back again and seemed content to grapple defensively rather than try to take Tsarukyan down himself.
It took a little while from there but Tsarukyan did manage to hit a high-crotch takedown to put Magomedov down, although only for a few seconds. Magomedov got back to his feet and they were reset in the centre after getting tangled up in the ropes, but he immediately walked backwards once again to defend. Tsarukyan moved to the high-crotch much quicker this time and he put everything into it, lifting Magomedov over his shoulder and dumping him down. He started trying to pass but Magomedov scrambled to his feet, and the match wound down shortly after to be declared a draw.
