Amsterdam Grappling Invitational is a brand new professional grappling show that is set to make waves in Europe. There’s plenty of room for promotions to grow across the continent and especially in the Netherlands, where there’s a fantastic Jiu-Jitsu scene just begging for more competition opportunities. Several elite competitors like Daniel De Groot and Rose El Sharouni have emerged from the country and there’s some top talent just waiting to break through there. It’s not just about the growth of local competitors though, as AGI have already announced that they’ve attracted several grapplers from all around the world for their first event.
The first AGI event will crown a welterweight champion, as 16 male grapplers under 170lbs will be competing in a single-elimination tournament for the title. The belt isn’t the only thing that the winner will be taking home though, as there’s also a €1,000 prize available too. The tournament will be contested under EBI rules too, so the winner is going to have to be a submission-hunter with excellent defense in order to make it to the top. There are no points and no judges involved so everyone should be coming out aggressively and looking for the finish instead of taking the risk of going to overtime.
AGI has already secured some big sponsors to support the event too; including Pacer Nutrition, Seclinq Cybersecurity, and Equilibrio. They still have space available for further sponsors looking to reach Jiu-Jitsu audiences though, with packages starting from as little as just €500 and more information available here. There’s still plenty of time left as well, as the first AGI event takes place on May 31st, 2026 and the promotion is currently preparing to announce the first competitors. It’ll be interesting to see which welterweights get involved; especially as AGI have already announced that there are grapplers coming in from the UK, the US, and even further afield.
