Famous actor Alexander Dreymon has just been promoted to brown belt in BJJ after spending years dedicated to the sport. He was received his brown belt from Joao Paulo Mariana Cruvinel of Cruvinel Brothers Training Center, in the presence of both Marcos Paulo Cruvinel and Willian Cruvinel as well. Dreymon has been steadily working his way up the belt ranks for quite some time now, after he originally took up Jiu-Jitsu under Swedish celebrity personal trainer and BJJ black belt Lars Wallin. It’s undoubtedly a hard-earned belt promotion, as the physical preparation that comes with taking on some of the roles that Dreymon has over the years is incredibly demanding.
Dreymon is a German actor who trained in London, England before starting out his career. He starred in several films and earned a role in one season of the popular TV series ‘American Horror Story’, all before he enjoyed the breakthrough success of his first major role in 2015. He was cast as the main character Uhtred of Bebbanburg in ‘The Last Kingdom’, an adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s popular series of novels, and his career exploded from there. The series went on for 5 seasons and concluded with a feature-length film in 2023, all of which were both popular with the public and critically well-received.
BJJ training formed an important part of the physical preparation that Alexander Dreymon had to undergo over the 8 years that ‘The Last Kingdom’ ran for and it’s clear that he must have enjoyed the sport too. Now he’s joined the long list of famous actors who have become experienced BJJ practitioners, and this latest belt promotion brings him one step closer to achieving the rank of black belt. As always, it’s great to see famous faces falling in love with the sport as it brings far more attention to it and helps spread the benefits of BJJ further into the mainstream world.
