The AIGA World Championship 2025 took place on June 28th and 29th, 2025 in Almaty, Kazakhstan and it attracted some of the best grapplers around. That was largely because it took place in the same location and across the same dates as the AIGA Champions League Final 2025, and several competitors chose to do both events. Surprisingly, the most stacked division was at over 100kg and Yatan Bueno stormed to victory there by submitting all four of his opponents. Bekzat Kapashov won gold at the opposite end of the scale, facing serious talent in his run through the 65kg division and getting three submissions in four wins.

There were other big names leaving with gold medals too though, and the under 91kg division in particular had several top contenders. Gabriel Almeida won that with two submissions and a points win over Santeri Lilius in the final match. The other stars competing didn’t have quite as much opposition as that though. Matheus Luna won the under 76kg division by beating two opponents before winning his final match by disqualification. The final big name who won gold was competing at under 83kg, as rising Polish star Pawel Jaworski got two submission finished and two wins on points to take home the title there.
